FULL SCHOOL MEMBERSHIP

The MINNDEPENDENT Full School Membership is available to accredited schools. These schools will be given full membership status in MINNDEPENDENT. Below are member requirements and opportunities:

  • Fully accredited;
  • In operation for at least one year;
  • Proof of 501(c)(3) status from IRS;
  • Willing to provide recent annual report or Form 990, as available;
  • Opportunities to participate in all MINNDEPENDENT programs, councils, and committees;
  • Use of the MINNDEPENDENT logo/äóìseal of approvaläó on all materials (print and electronic);
  • Eligible for board service.

AFFILIATE SCHOOL MEMBERSHIP

The MINNDEPENDENT Affiliate School Membership is available to non-accredited schools. These schools will be given membership status in MINNDEPENDENT with the following requirements and opportunities:

  • In operation for at least one year;
  • Proof of 501(c)(3) status from IRS;
  • Willing to provide recent annual report or Form 990, as available;
  • Opportunities to participate in all MINNDEPENDENT programs, councils, and committees;
  • Opportunity to be connected with a full school member who will act as a äóìmentoräó;
  • Use of the MINNDEPENDENT logo/äóìseal of approvaläó on all materials (print and electronic);
  • Not eligible for board service.

PROVISIONAL SCHOOL MEMBERSHIP

The MINNDEPENDENT Affiliate School Membership is available to start-up schools in operation for less than one year. These schools will be given membership status in MINNDEPENDENT with the following äóìprovisionsäó applying:

  • In operation less than one (1) year;
  • Proof of 501(c)(3) status from IRS;
  • Annual MINNDEPENDENT membership dues must be paid in full prior to official membership approval;
  • Willing to provide recent annual report or Form 990, as available;
  • Use of the MINNDEPENDENT logo/”seal of approval” on all materials (print and electronic);
  • Not eligible for MINNDEPENDENT STEM Grants or free membership to the Science House;
  • Not eligible for service on MINNDEPENDENT committees, councils, or board of directors.

 

DUES AND MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE

The membership dues and payment structure as outlined below pertains to all school membership levels. All memberships renew annually. The membership year is July 1 to June 30.

DUES:

$4/student*          OR          $200 minimum for schools with less than 50 students^

* Schools must join by March 1 to participate in MINNDEPENDENTäó»s STEM Grant program and to receive the free Science House membership. Renewing member schools pay annual fees beginning with the upcoming yearäó»s billing cycle.

^min applies to each separate school.

BILLING:

New Membership

  • New member schools joining after August 1 (the final annual billing cycle payment due date) will be asked to make their first annual dues payment 30 days from their invoice date;
  • Invoices more than 60 days outstanding will result in temporary suspension of member benefits;
  • New member schools will be invoiced annually as outlined under Renewal Membership.

Renewal Membership

  • One annual billing cycle;
  • Invoices are dated July 1 with a 30-day maximum payment term;
  • Payments are due August 1;
  • Invoices more than 60 days outstanding from the date of the original billing will result in temporary suspension of member benefits.

     

    TERMINATION:

    A member may terminate its membership at any time by giving written notice to the President of MINNDEPENDENT. Such termination shall be effective on the date it is received, or the date specified in the termination notification, whichever is later.

    ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

    The MINNDEPENDENT Associate Membership is available to individuals affiliated with Private and/or Independent (nonpublic) School Associations. These organizations include local, state, and regional associations, entities, agencies, accrediting institutions, and/or äóìcoordinating bodiesäó that support private and independent (nonpublic) schools. Examples include: Catholic Dioceses, Associations of the Lutheran Church (LCMS; WELS), Seventh-day Adventists, Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA), Association of Christian Schools Intäó»l (ACSI), and Minnesota Association of Independent Schools (MAIS), among others. The organizations must be defined as a not-for-profit organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the IRS and exist for charitable purposes. These individuals will be given membership status in MINNDEPENDENT based on the requirements below being met by the organization/association the individual is affiliated with:

    • In operation for at least one year;
    • Proof of 501(c)(3) status from IRS;
    • Private and/or Independent (nonpublic) School Association

    Associate Membership Benefits/Offerings

    • The individual member affiliated with the organization will have access to these specific benefits:
    • Opportunities to participate in MINNDEPENDENT conferences and events at member pricing;
    • Minimal fee for MINNDEPENDENT’s professional development workshops (i.e., Admission/Mktg, Development, Technology);
    • Access to MINNDEPENDENT’s Member-Only website;
    • Use of the MINNDEPENDENT logo/äóìseal of approvaläó on all materials (print and electronic).

    New Membership
